Pre Construction Estimator

Watkin Jones is seeking a Pre-Construction Estimator to join our Commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a dynamic department, working on a diverse portfolio of projects that vary in both scale and complexity. With a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming work, you'll play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of projects from the earliest stages of the construction lifecycle.

Working closely with the Commercial Manager and wider, you will be involved in the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission and project award. You'll be responsible for producing accurate and commercially competitive cost estimates, drawing on your knowledge of construction methods, materials, labour requirements, and procurement strategies.

The role will require you to review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to ensure full compliance with client requirements, industry standards, building regulations, and quality expectations. You will also identify value engineering opportunities and alternative design solutions that maximise project value while maintaining programme objectives, quality standards, and commercial viability

About you:

You are a commercially aware and detail‑focused estimator with a strong understanding of construction methods and the full estimating lifecycle. You are confident interpreting drawings and specifications, comfortable working with current regulations and standards, and able to produce accurate, well‑structured estimates supported by clear assumptions and risk awareness. You are organised, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
